TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA,The fear of Number 13

Number 13 is ominous 😀In the old High Court building , there was no Court Hall with Number13..instead there was 12A followed by 14...Still 12A was enough to strike bad luck..Justice Mathews.P.Mathews chairing Court 12A died while in service..Justice K.P.Dandapani resigned while adorning 12A..Justice K.M.Joseph had a brief officiation in 12A..Anyway, the halo of his virtues around him somehow guarded him from misfortunes, but had to face a small strike;the delay in elevation to Supreme Court..

When new building was inaugurated, High Court omitted Digit 13 in numbering of Court Halls..The event was challenged before the High Court as an act promoting superstitions, when Constitution enjoins a duty to foster scientific temper..But the complainant was mulcted with a cost of Rs.10000/-by Kerala High Court..The Apex Court reversed the order and asked the High Court to set things right...High Court devised a new pattern for numbering ..Court halls were numbered in hybrid mode..Numerical and alphabets joined together..Number indicating Floor and alphabet indicating each Court Hall in a Floor..Like 1A..1B..,2A,2B..The risk of Number 13 being attributed to any Court Hall, once and for all was got rid of ...as the High Court is an eight storied structure only..Any way,potential contemners could take lessons from this exercise for interpreting court orders and inventing their own ways of implementation and compliance..But it must be said with gratitude ..the present numbering is handy and helpful for lawyers and litigants ..floor identification done easier..

Now,the present Ministry of progressive forces,going to be sworn in today,is curiously apprehensive of Number 13..It is reported by media that Number 13 has not been allotted to any State Car for Ministers to travel..Number 13 bearer of last Ministry,Thomas Issac was denied seat for contesting..M.A.Baby,who took a seat in Number 13 State Car during Achuthanandan Ministry was defeated in Kollam parliamentary constituency and he is now no where in parliamentary politics..

But Surprisingly for the so called conservative block,Number 13 doesn’t matter..for Vajpayee, number 13 was said to be a lucky number.. it proved lucky for Vajpayee...His first government lasted 13 days and his second government lasted 13 months.

He was invited to form the government in the 13th Lok Sabha for the third time on October 1, 1999.People close to him say that he consciously opted Number 13 in calendar for his many auspicious events..

Now we see a wonderful combination of Renaissance and ‘Triskaidekaphobia’ ...😀😀🙏
